NEW JERSEY AMERICAN WATER RESPONDS TO WATER MAIN BREAK

We have been following the water main break in Irvington this morning that has caused some water pressure problems and brown water in some areas.

It also forced the shutdown today of the Maplewood Pool (On one of the hottest days of the year).

New Jersey American Water finally alerted residents with this notice:

New Jersey American Water Company (NJAW) responded to a water main break.
A water main break at Mt. Vernon Avenue in Irvington is causing water pressure issues in Maplewood. Low to no water pressure is reported in the eastern side of town with the western side getting some lower pressure but still having water service.
Mayor Victor De Luca is in contact with NJAW's Nick Pinto who reported that two of the four water valves impacted are now replaced and they are working on replacing the remaining two valves.

Once the valves are fixed it will take several hours for the water pressure to return to normal.
NJAW is not reporting any water quality issues.
