LONG ABANDONED BUMPER TO BUMPER BUILDING DEMOLISHED

Bumper to Bumper site
More than a decade after Bumper to Bumper Auto Repair on Springfield Avenue closed down the building has finally been demolished.

Wrecking crews began Tuesday to bulldoze the building at Springfield Avenue and Yale Street, which has remained empty for more than 10 years, drawing concerns about overgrown weeds and its eyesore status.

Property owners had boasted for years that condominiums were coming, and more recently advertised the site for sale as a potential housing/retail site.

But Township officials were losing patience saying the site had become a hazard and ordered the owners last month to either begin the demolition process and obtain permits for the job or the Township would do it and put a lien on the property for the cost.

Mayor Vic Deluca confirmed Tuesday that the property owners are doing the demolition.
